How I Use AI as a Business Coach and Thought Partner
People often think of AI as a writing tool. And sure, I use it to draft emails and content—but where it’s helped me most has nothing to do with grammar or copywriting.
AI has become a reliable thought partner in my business—especially during those moments when I’m stuck, overwhelmed, or staring at a messy whiteboard wondering, “What am I missing?”
As a founder, independent educational consultant, and business and life coach, I have to make decisions every day. I lead a team, plan new programs, build offers, and support clients. And while I believe in the power of community and mentorship (I am a coach after all!), I’ve found that AI can be a powerful tool in between those human touchpoints.
Let me show you how I use AI not just to do tasks—but to think better.
When You Don’t Need a To-Do List—You Need Clarity
We’ve all had those moments:
You’re spinning in circles trying to decide whether to launch something, rework a service, respond to a personnel issue, or shift your strategy—and you just can’t untangle it in your head.
That’s when I open up ChatGPT and ask questions like:
“What are 3 ways I could restructure this offer for working professionals?”
“Here’s what’s not working with this program—what might I try instead?”
“How can I frame this policy update so it feels empowering instead of punitive?”
“Can you walk me through the pros and cons of these two decisions?”
It doesn’t give me the answer. But it helps me see things from multiple angles, sort out my thoughts, and move forward.
My Favorite Use Cases for AI as a Business Coach
Here’s where I’ve found AI to be most helpful as a strategy and clarity tool:
1. Decision-Making Support
I describe the situation and ask AI to surface options I haven’t thought of. It’s like having a sounding board that never judges and always has time.
2. Offer Development
From brainstorming coaching packages to outlining curriculum for group programs, AI helps me think through structure, pricing, and value delivery.
3. Visioning and Troubleshooting
I’ve used AI to:
Map out revenue streams
Draft program goals and success metrics
Identify friction points in my funnel or systems
Surface growth opportunities I might be overlooking
4. Reframing and Encouragement
Yes—sometimes I even ask it for a pep talk. “Write me an encouraging paragraph for a founder who’s feeling discouraged about growth.” (It’s shockingly helpful.)
When AI Isn’t Enough—And You Need a Human Coach
While I love how AI helps me work through challenges, it’s not a replacement for mentorship, accountability, or deep emotional processing.
AI won’t call out your blind spots. It won’t walk with you through resistance. And it certainly won’t challenge you to dream bigger or believe in yourself when you're second-guessing everything.
That’s where real coaching comes in.
Need Support Thinking Bigger? I’d Love to Help.
As a business and life coach, I work with purpose-driven women and small business owners who are ready to grow with integrity and intention. Whether you’re at a crossroads, refining your offer, or reimagining what success looks like, I help you clear the mental clutter and build a path that fits you.
Yes, we might use AI to get things moving—but the real magic happens when you’re supported by someone who sees your potential and helps you step into it.
If that sounds like what you need, I’d love to talk. Learn more about my coaching here.
TL;DR:
AI can be a powerful business coach—if you know how to use it well. It can help you brainstorm, clarify, and move forward. But it’s not a replacement for you—or for the people who walk alongside you. Use it as a thought partner, not a lifeline. And when you’re ready for the next level, I’m here.
